Plein Air

Plein air is the French term for "In the open air". This style of painting means you paint on site and capture exactly what your eye sees. There are many more obstacles; poor weather, the sun moving and changing the shadows, and sometimes things actually leaving the scene. Despite the added challenges, this method trains the artist to rise to the occasion and truly paint what he sees.
